Raku Masterclass & Alternative Firing Weekend: 28th - 29th June

Raku Masterclass & Alternative Firing Weekend: 28th - 29th June
28th and 29th June
10.30am - 4.30pm
Join me, Catherine Lucktaylor, and my wonderful assistant Krissy Busviah for a vibrant, hands-on weekend exploring the magic of Raku and alternative firing techniques in my large rural studio in far West Cornwall. With over 40 years of experience, I’ll guide you through my playful and intuitive approach to surface decoration, using exciting methods such as horsehair and naked Raku, smoke firing, copper fuming, obvara, and, of course, classic glazed Raku.
We’ll be working with my own handmade Raku kiln in a warm, welcoming space that encourages creativity, experimentation, and connection. Whether you're new to Raku or looking to deepen your skills, this weekend is all about diving into the fire and discovering the joyful, transformative possibilities of low-fired ceramics.
You’ll leave with a collection of your own uniquely fired creations, along with the confidence and techniques to continue your Raku journey.
The course runs from 10:30am to 4:30pm each day and includes a delicious light lunch, homemade cake, and a range of teas and fresh coffee (dietary requirements can be catered for).
We welcome up to 10 participants.
PLEASE NOTE: You’ll need to bring 10–12 small bisque-fired pots or sculptures to glaze and fire (guidance will be provided upon booking), or you can purchase ready-made bisque pots at £10 each.
